Celebrate the Celtic Nations
October 27-29, 2010
Cultural Arts week has become a much anticipated
tradition at Hendricks Avenue Elementary. This year we will be
discovering the vibrant culture of the Celtic nations - Ireland,
Scotland, Wales, Isle of
Man, Cornwall and Brittany. Get ahead of the game by researching with your student and check out our Celtic booklist in the attachment below. You also can learn more about the Celtic culture through this presentation (it takes a minute to load):Celebrating the Celtic Nations!

- Wednesday Oct 27: Opening Ceremony ~ Flag Raising, Music & Bag Pipes to Kick off our Week! Quizzes will Go Home – Complete & Return by Fri AM for a chance to win $50
- Thursday Oct.28: Dress Up Day & Celtic Picnic Lunch with Music,
Art Display & Family Photo Fun! Bring

Irish “Ceili” Dance with the Glor Na Daire School of Irish Dance. Don’t miss
their Performance at 7:30 p.m.! Live Irish Folk Music in the Courtyard &
Celtic Games in the Field with Coach McGlynn!
- Friday Oct.29 – Scottish Highland Games Demonstration! The NEFL Scottish Highland Athletes will Show us How they Do it! Closing Ceremony & Assembly with Mrs. Prisby!
Please join us Thursday, October 28 for
a Celtic Picnic! A registration and order form for the lunch will be sent via email. If you haven't joined Hendricks' mailing list, please do so here. You also can print and return the form below by Friday, October 22. Student lunches are $1.50 and adult lunches are $3. We will be serving a Celtic-inspired meal including your
choice of Shepherd’s Pie or Fish & Chips. Side dish options are: peas & carrots, cinnamon apples and Shamrock Jell-O!
No
other lunch choices will be served. Please send your child with a lunch if
he/she does not want this meal option.
We need volunteers to help greet and direct visitors at all above events! Please contact Rebecca Kneale, 314-0401 if you can help out!
